“Disturbia” by Rhianna comes in at #1 this week on the Billboard Hot 100, with David Archuleta in a strong second. I must say, I wanted to see Archie take the #1 spot, but I suppose Rhianna’s song is deserving as well. Plus, coming in at #2 with your first single is a major accomplishment.
For those of you that haven’t seen the video for “Disturbia”, it probably takes the cake for most disturbing video of the year. You can watch it here on YouTube. This video is disturbing—and this is no Jesse McCartney “Leavin’” disturbing. Rhianna goes to a whole new level of creepiness in this video. It’s very “Night of the Living Dead”. Don’t get me wrong, “Disturbia” is a good song. I just cannot listen to it without thinking of the creepiest parts of the music video.
As for the song itself, it is a good listen—a nice dance beat with pretty good vocals (although the vocals are a bit robotic). Don’t just buy this one because someone tells you to buy it. Give it a listen first. It isn’t for everyone.
